Here are the traditional steps for making Arabic coffee:
Ingredients:
• 3 cups water
• 2 tablespoons finely ground Arabic coffee
• 1 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional but commonly used)
• Saffron or cloves (optional for added flavor)
• Sugar (optional, to taste)
Instructions:
1. Boil the Water
In a traditional Arabic coffee pot (Dallah) or a small saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
2. Add the Coffee
Once the water is boiling, lower the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of finely ground Arabic coffee. Stir gently.
3. Simmer
Let the coffee simmer over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Do not let it boil over.
4. Add Cardamom and Other Spices (Optional)
Once the coffee is brewed, you can add 1 teaspoon of ground cardamom, along with any optional spices like saffron or cloves. Stir well and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
5. Strain and Serve
If you prefer a smoother coffee, strain the coffee through a fine sieve into a serving pot.
6. Serve in Small Cups
Pour the coffee into small, handle-less cups (Finjan) without stirring to keep the grounds settled at the bottom. Arabic coffee is traditionally served without sugar, but you can add it to taste if desired.
